3 Great Online Shops for Samsung Moment Accessories

3 Off the Radar Shops for Samsung Moment Accessories

Where to buy accessories for your Samsung Moment?  Sure you can go to the big boys like Bestbuy, Spint and the like, but here are 3 Great Online Shops that are often off the radar, but have bargains and great ideas:

Samsung Moment Users: Do You Know Your Apps?

Sure you knew your Samsung Moment was more than a phone.  It has a camera, a great one at that.  That camera lens in also the lens for the camcorder.  Your microphone can be used to take voice memos.  Those are just the a few of the accessories that came with the Samsung Moment.

Your Samsung Moment comes loaded with some apps (applications, we used to call them programs).  “An apps culture is clearly emerging among some cell phone users, particularly men and young adults,” said Kristen Purcell, Associate Director for Research at the Pew Internet Project. “Still, it is clear that this is the early stage of adoption when many cell owners do not know what their phone can do. The apps market seems somewhat ahead of a majority of adult cell phone users.”
My Samsung Moment came from Sprint packing calendar, email, and Facebook apps, among other things.

I use the calendar as the only place to store my meetings and other appointments, even the ones I make with myself.  After an initial setup procedure, everything on my calendar was synced with my, on-line Google calendar.

I personally do not mess with email on my phone.  I get to much junk mail to sort through.  But, I have put email to way back in priority for digital communication.  If you use email a lot, you can read and manage it on the fly with the included app.

Facebook is my second most used communication channel.  With the Facebook app on my Samsung Moment I can check on what my friends are doing or tell them what I am about.  I even manage some of my on-line publishing business through Facebook.  A matter of fact, I just heard that Facebook is opening free email interfaced with Facebook.  I might just be back into email soon.

The Market app that came with my Moment is where I upload apps to help me with life activities.  It is in the Market that I researched and downloaded TweetCaster to manage twitter, my prime communication channel.  With TweetCaster I keep up with all those I am following and I can search tweeterdom (hay, I used that word first, right here and now) for anything, just like I use Google.  Much of my on-line business product is pushed through twitter.

There are thousands of useful apps available in the Market.  You can usually find a free app that works just as well as one you paid for.  In my estimation with apps that fit my life, this Samsung Moment is a power tool.  In up-coming posts I will be sharing some great apps that I think you will be interested in.

Android Smandroid, What’s That?

The Samsung Momment for Sprint is an Android cell phone.  So what does that mean?

Android is an operating system (like window, linux, apple) for cell phones, netbooks, and tablets.  It was initially developed by Android Inc. and later purchased by the high powered search firm Google in 2005.   Android has gone through a number of updates since its original release. These updates typically fix bugs and add new features. It has been Google’s practice to give each Android operating system update a code name based on a dessert item.  The current release (as of Nov. 1, 2010) is Froyo.  Sometime in the next couple of months Gingerbread will be released.

There are currently well over 100,000 android applications.

Camera Top of Line In Samsung Moment

Samsung Moment Camera

The Samsung Moment’s camera is TOP PF THE LINE!

Soon after I brought my Moment hope from the Sprint shop, I went out on the patio and decided to take a few photos.  The quality from a cell phone camera blew me away.

Samsung has added a feature that I really wanted on my last cell phone, a flash.  The Moment has a LED flash that works very well.  It is better than any digital camera that I have ever owned.

I have looked at the quality of photos from the widely owned and touted iPhone 3GS and the Moment, in my opinion, takes brighter images.

The Moment is held sideways for picture taking.

You can launch the camera from the menu system, but it’s faster to just press the dedicated button on the side of Moment.

3.2 megapixel

video 352 x 288 pixels resolution

that has autofocus, will take great macro shots, and the flash is awesome

8x zoom

lets not forget the mirror….

Overall, there’s still a lot of room for improvement for Samsung to do with a future iteration of this phone.

The Moment (and Android 1.5) has made no strides in launching the camera app quickly. As with other Android hardware, the camera function is just slow, slow, slow to use. This is surprising because the Moment has an 800MHz processor, which beats the pants off of the 528MHz processor in most previous Android handsets.
